By Mei Han, massage therapist in Dubai Updated 18 July 2026
I’m Mei, an independent female massage therapist in Dubai, and yes — I offer gentle pregnancy massage at home, most often from the second trimester onwards once your doctor is happy. I use safe side-lying positioning, focus on the back, hips and shoulders, and keep everything strictly professional. Home visits are AED 400 an hour, with no deposit.
Is pregnancy massage safe? Start with your doctor
For most healthy, low-risk pregnancies, gentle massage is a lovely way to ease the aches that come with a changing body — but the honest answer is that safety comes first, and that means starting with your doctor or midwife. Before we book, please check that they’re happy for you to have a massage. This matters especially if your pregnancy is high-risk, or if you’ve had bleeding, high blood pressure, pre-eclampsia, a history of early labour, or any complication at all.
Massage during pregnancy is a comfort measure, not medical treatment. It can help ease muscular tension and help you relax, but it doesn’t replace your antenatal care. If anything feels wrong — cramping, reduced movements, swelling that comes on suddenly, or a headache that won’t shift — stop and speak to your doctor or midwife straight away. I’d always rather you postpone a session than push through something that needs proper attention.
Before we start I’ll ask a few simple questions: how many weeks you are, how you’ve been feeling, and whether there’s anything your doctor has flagged. There’s no pressure and nothing to prepare — just honest answers so I can keep you comfortable and safe throughout.
Which trimester — and how often
I prefer to begin pregnancy massage from the second trimester, around 13 weeks, onwards. In the first trimester many women feel queasy and tired, and while there’s no strong evidence that massage causes problems, I’d rather you be past those early weeks and have your doctor’s blessing. If you’re in your first trimester and keen, that’s a conversation to have with your doctor first.
The second and third trimesters are where massage tends to help most — that’s usually when the lower back, hips and shoulders start to complain. Right up to your due date is fine for gentle work, as long as your pregnancy is straightforward and you’re comfortable lying on your side.
As for how often: there’s no rule. Some women book once when a particular ache flares up; others like a calming session every two to four weeks through the later months. We can find a rhythm that suits your body and your budget — no packages to sign up to, no deposit, just book when you need it.
Safe side-lying positioning, explained
You won’t be asked to lie flat on your front or your back for any length of time. From the second trimester I work with you on your side — this is the safe, comfortable position for pregnancy massage, and it keeps the weight off your bump and off the large blood vessels that lying flat on your back can press on.
I bring plenty of pillows and bolsters so you’re properly supported: one under your bump, one between your knees, one to hold if you like. We can turn you gently from one side to the other so I can reach both sides of your back and hips. If at any point you want to change position, take a break, or sit up, just say — this is your session, and your comfort sets the pace. Proper draping is a given throughout; you stay covered and warm, and everything is strictly professional.
What pregnancy massage can help ease
Carrying a baby changes your posture, and your muscles work overtime to keep up. A gentle, back-focused session can help ease some of the most common complaints:
- Lower back and hips — as your bump grows and your ligaments soften, the lower back and hips take the strain. Slow, careful work here can help relieve that tight, achy feeling.
- Shoulders, neck and upper back — the weight up top shifts too, and shoulders creep towards the ears. I can help release some of that tension.
- Tired, heavy legs — light work on the legs can feel wonderful late in pregnancy. I keep the pressure gentle and avoid deep work on the calves.
- Sleep and stress — sometimes the biggest win is simply an hour to breathe, be looked after, and switch off. A calm hour like this often supports better sleep, too.
I keep the pressure moderate and soothing — this isn’t the moment for deep, intense work. If you’d like to understand the safety side in more detail, I’ve written more about it in is massage safe during pregnancy in Dubai, and the full details of what I offer for mums-to-be sit on my prenatal and postnatal massage page.
If you’d like to book, the easiest way is to message me on WhatsApp — tell me how many weeks you are and where you’re based, and I’ll sort out a time that works.
A female therapist who comes to you
I’m a female therapist, and for pregnancy that reassurance matters to a lot of the women I see. You don’t need to drive anywhere, find parking, or sit in a waiting room. I come to you — your own bedroom, your own bathroom nearby, your own bed to rest in afterwards. I bring the table, the pillows, the towels and the oil; you just need a little space to set up.
I cover 19 areas across Dubai for home visits — from Dubai Marina, JBR and Palm Jumeirah to Downtown, Business Bay, JVC and Dubai Hills — plus hotels and serviced apartments right across the city. If you’re on bed rest or simply too tired to go out, a calm session at home can be the gentlest option of all.
There’s very little for you to prepare. I need a clear patch of floor about the size of a large towel to set up my table, plus somewhere to wash my hands. A warm room, dim lighting and your own pillows make it cosier, but they’re optional. You’ll undress only to your level of comfort under the towel, and proper draping keeps you covered throughout. If a particular scent bothers you in later pregnancy — a lot of women go off strong smells — just say, and I’ll bring an unscented oil.
When you’re ready: postnatal massage
Once your baby has arrived, massage can help just as much — often more, given the broken sleep and the hours spent feeding and carrying. After a straightforward birth, many women feel ready after a few weeks; after a caesarean, give yourself longer and check with your doctor first, as the area needs time to heal properly. Postnatal sessions can help ease the tight shoulders, neck and lower back that come with feeding and lifting, and hand you a rare, quiet hour to yourself. Because I come to you, there’s no childcare to arrange and nowhere to rush off to — feed the baby, hand them over, and lie down. It’s all part of my prenatal and postnatal work, and we can pick up whenever the time feels right.
Prices, areas and how to book
A home visit is AED 400 an hour, and my studio option is AED 300 an hour if you’d prefer to come to me. Sessions run 60, 90 or 120 minutes at the same hourly rate — for pregnancy, 60 minutes is often plenty, though 90 gives us a slower, unhurried pace. There’s no deposit; you pay cash on the day, bank transfer on request. You can see everything laid out on my pricing page.
I work daily from 10am to 11pm by appointment, and same-day is often possible if you’re having one of those days. To book, send me a message on WhatsApp with your due date, your area and a rough time, and I’ll take care of the rest. Congratulations, by the way — I’d love to help you feel a little more comfortable.
