You undress only as far as you’re comfortable — no further, ever. Most people keep their underwear on; some prefer to remove it, others stay almost fully dressed. You undress in private, lie under a towel or sheet, and I uncover only the part of the body I’m actually working on. It’s strictly professional, properly draped, and completely your choice.
The honest answer: only as far as you want
There’s a lot of quiet anxiety around this question, so let me be direct. There is no rule that says you must take anything off. “Undress to your comfort level” is the phrase every professional therapist uses, and it puts the decision entirely in your hands. Plenty of my clients keep their underwear on for the whole session and get a wonderful massage. Others remove more so I can work freely across the back, hips and legs. Both are completely normal, and I never ask you to explain your choice.
The reason I labour the point is simple: the more relaxed you are about it, the better your massage will be. Tension from feeling self-conscious is the one thing that works against a good session, so I’d always rather you kept a layer on and felt at ease.
What draping means — you stay covered
The reason your clothing matters so little is a professional standard called draping. You lie on the table beneath a large towel or sheet, and as I move around your body I fold back only the single area I’m about to work on — one leg, one arm, your back — then re-cover it before moving to the next. At no point are you left fully exposed.
Draping keeps you warm, keeps the boundaries clear, and means that whatever you’ve chosen to keep on underneath simply isn’t part of the equation. It’s the quiet mechanism that lets you switch off and trust the process.
If you’d rather stay mostly clothed
Some people are most relaxed keeping nearly everything on, and that’s genuinely fine. For a neck, shoulder and back session, or a gentle relaxation massage, I can do excellent work with your underwear on and the draping doing the rest. If you’re only after upper-back and shoulder relief, you can even stay in a light top. I’d always rather you felt at ease with a little more on than exposed for the sake of “doing it properly”. Your comfort produces the better massage, every time.
If this is on your mind before a first booking, message me on WhatsApp and ask me anything — I’d far rather you felt reassured in advance than wondered on the day.
For women and first-timers
As a female therapist, I know this question carries a little more weight for many women, and for anyone booking their very first massage. So here’s my promise. You’ll undress in private while I’m out of the room or turned away, you’ll be under the towel before I return, and you set the pace throughout. If you want more coverage, warmer draping, or lighter pressure, you only have to say the word and I’ll adjust immediately.
There’s no judgement and no expectation — just a calm, professional session on your terms. For the practical side of what to wear and bring along, my guide on what to wear during a massage walks through it in detail.
Where the undressing happens
Privacy is built into how I work, whether I come to you or you come to me. On a home visit, I set up the table, step out or turn away while you get comfortable under the sheet, and only begin once you’re settled and covered. At my studio it’s exactly the same — a private space, fresh linens, and full draping.
You’re never undressing in front of me, and you’re never uncovered beyond the area in hand. You can see the full list of massages I offer and pick whichever suits you; the approach to privacy is identical across all of them.
Does the type of massage change how much you undress?
A little, though it’s always your decision in the end. For a relaxing full-body massage or a Swedish session, most people keep underwear on and are perfectly comfortable. For deep tissue focused on the lower back, hips and glutes, some prefer to remove underwear so I can reach those muscles directly — but the draping still keeps you covered, and I can work effectively around underwear if you’d rather leave it on.
For a neck, shoulder and upper-back session, you barely need to undress at all. Tell me your goal for the session and I’ll tell you honestly what actually helps, rather than what sounds “proper”.
What about massage oil on your skin?
One practical reason people ask about undressing is the oil. I use a light massage oil so my hands can glide smoothly, and it works best directly on skin. Wherever an area stays covered by underwear or a top, I simply work over or around it — no oil goes anywhere you’d rather it didn’t.
Afterwards, a little oil may remain on the skin, which is why loose clothing for later is a good idea, and a quick shower removes it easily. None of this requires you to undress any further than you want to; it just explains why bare skin helps where you’re comfortable showing it.
You can change your mind at any point
Here’s something people rarely mention: your comfort level isn’t fixed once the massage starts. If you began with a top on and feel warm and settled enough to relax it, that’s fine. If you’d like more coverage partway through, just say the word and I’ll add a towel. Nothing is locked in.
The whole session flexes around how you feel in the moment, which is exactly how it should be. You’re never committed to a decision you made at the door, and adjusting is never any trouble.
Strictly professional — every time
It’s worth saying plainly, because it’s the foundation everything else rests on: my work is strictly professional, by appointment, with proper draping and clear boundaries. That framework is exactly what lets you relax about undressing at all. You never have to negotiate it or wonder about it — it’s simply how every session runs.
If you’d like to get a sense of me before you book, there’s more on my about page, and my straightforward rates are on the pricing page: AED 400 an hour for a home visit, AED 300 at the studio, no deposit.
The bottom line
Do you undress for a massage? As much or as little as you like. Keep your underwear on, take it off, or stay mostly dressed for a focused session — all of it is fine. Trust the draping, set your own pace, and let the rest fall away. That freedom to choose is exactly what makes a good massage feel safe.
None of this is unusual to ask about, either — I answer these questions gently all the time, most often for people booking their very first massage or trying a new therapist. So if you’re still turning it over, don’t overthink it: come as you are, decide in the moment, and let me take care of everything else.
Whenever you’re ready, send me a message on WhatsApp with your area and a preferred time, and I’ll arrange everything — strictly professional, no deposit, cash on the day.
Frequently asked questions
Do you have to get fully undressed for a massage?
No. You undress only to your comfort level — many people keep their underwear on, and some stay mostly clothed for a back-and-shoulder session. You're covered by proper draping throughout and only the area being worked on is uncovered. It's strictly professional and entirely your choice.
Do you keep underwear on during a massage?
You can, and many people do. For relaxation or back, neck and shoulder work it makes no difference. For deep tissue around the hips and glutes some prefer to remove it, but I can always work around underwear with draping. Whatever you choose is fine with me.
Is it normal to feel nervous about undressing for a massage?
Completely normal, especially the first time or with a new therapist. You undress in private, stay draped, and set the pace. As a female therapist I keep everything strictly professional and will adjust coverage or pressure the moment you ask. Message me beforehand if you'd like reassurance.
Do you undress in front of the massage therapist?
No, never. You undress in private while I'm out of the room or turned away, and you're under the towel or sheet before I begin. On a home visit or at my studio the privacy is the same. You're never uncovered beyond the area I'm working on.
Can I stay dressed for a massage?
For some sessions, yes — a shoulder, neck and upper-back massage can be done over a light top or with minimal undressing. It's your call. I'd rather you felt comfortable than exposed. Tell me what you'd prefer when you book on WhatsApp and I'll plan around it.
