Looking for a massage centre near ADCB Metro?

I don’t run a centre by the station, but I come to flats and hotel rooms around it. ADCB is Karama’s Red Line stop — often typed as “ABCD Metro”, and called Al Karama station until 2014 — so if it’s your landmark, send your building name and I’ll come to your door.

Karama is a tight grid of low-rise blocks, so a pin often lands on the wrong side of a building. A named landmark works better. Around the station, these are the quickest:

Spa in Karama or a massage at home?

Choose a spa if you want to walk in without planning ahead. Choose a home visit if you want the same female therapist each time, a total agreed before I arrive and your own bed to rest on afterwards, with no walk home through Karama’s evening traffic and heat.

If you want a steam room or a sauna along with the massage, a hotel spa is the better booking: I bring the massage, not the facilities. Going to a spa anyway? Kerala or Ayurvedic massage? What I offer instead

I don’t offer Kerala or Ayurvedic treatments, and I won’t claim my work is the same thing. If you want firm, slow pressure on a tired back, book deep tissue. If you want oil and a calm, unhurried hour, book aromatherapy. Both use oil; neither follows an Ayurvedic method.

Kerala massage usually means an Ayurvedic treatment from the south Indian state of Kerala, built on herbal oils and set sequences. That tradition deserves a specialist who trained in it. What I can do well is meet the need behind the search:

Staying in a Karama hotel?

Yes, I come to hotel rooms in and around Karama. Check that your hotel lets visitors go up to rooms, then send the hotel name, your room number and the name the booking is under. I make up the bed with my own blanket and linens, so housekeeping doesn’t need to do anything.

A hotel visit costs the same as a home visit. After a day out — the Dubai Frame in Zabeel Park sits on Karama’s southern edge — a 60-minute session in your room before dinner is an easy way to end it. How much is a massage in Karama?

A home or hotel visit in Karama is AED 400 an hour, the same rate for 60, 90 or 120 minutes, and my studio is AED 300 an hour. There’s no deposit and no travel fee; you pay cash after the session, or by bank transfer if you ask beforehand.

Walk-in prices in Karama vary by shop and change often, so I won’t quote them. What my rate covers is the full hour with one therapist and a total agreed before I leave home. Booking in Al Karama: what to send

Send your building name, the nearest landmark — ADCB Metro, Karama Centre, Kuwait Street or the Zabeel Park side — your floor, the time you’d like and 60, 90 or 120 minutes. I reply with a confirmed start time and the total; nothing is booked until I confirm.

• Walk-up block? Fine — just tell me the floor so I can plan the stairs with my bag.
• Parking is tight in the evenings; I sort it out myself and message when I’m close.
• Shared flat? Your own room with a door is enough. Let flatmates know the time.
