Lymphatic drainage massage in Dubai at home: for puffy legs, flights and heat — and what it can't do

Short answer

Yes — I do gentle lymphatic drainage massage at your home or hotel across Dubai, for puffy legs and ankles after flights, heat or long days of sitting. It moves fluid, not fat: it isn't a detox, isn't weight loss and isn't post-surgery aftercare. Female therapist, AED 400 an hour, no deposit.

Lymphatic drainage massage in Dubai

A gentle technique that encourages circulation and helps reduce fluid retention and puffiness — a light, restorative session that leaves the body feeling lighter.

Good for

  • Reduce puffiness
  • Post-travel swelling
  • Gentle reset

Every session is strictly professional, with proper draping throughout. I welcome both women and men by appointment.

I’m Mei, a female massage therapist working independently in Dubai, and lymphatic drainage is the lightest work I do. Below: what it does, who it’s worth booking for, the requests I turn down (liposuction aftercare included) and what an hour at your place looks like.

What does lymphatic drainage massage actually do?

It’s a very light, slow, rhythmic stretch of the skin in the direction your lymph flows. That can help shift the fluid behind puffiness, so swollen ankles and heavy legs feel lighter for a day or two. It works the layer just under the skin, not the muscle, so it feels like almost nothing, and that’s correct.

Manual lymphatic drainage works with simple plumbing. Lymph is the clear fluid that drains out of your tissues, and unlike blood it has no heart pushing it: it moves because you move, and because the soft vessels under the skin are gently stretched. Press harder and you flatten the channels you’re trying to encourage, and you’re giving a muscle massage instead.

If you mostly want to unwind rather than de-puff, a Swedish relaxation session is the better booking.

Is lymphatic drainage massage worth it?

Yes, if you feel puffy, heavy or waterlogged rather than sore, after a long-haul flight, a hot week, long days at a desk or before an event, and you want a gentle hour. No, if you’re hoping for a detox, weight loss, results that last for weeks, or relief from knots.

This is the massage the internet oversells most, so here’s where I stand. Booked for what it is, it’s lovely: your legs can feel lighter and your ankles more like your own, and that holds for a day or two until ordinary life brings the puffiness back. Booked because someone promised a cleanse or a smaller number on the scale, it’s a waste of your money.

Worth booking:

  • the evening you land, when your feet don’t look like your own
  • the end of a week spent sitting in air conditioning
  • a day or two before a wedding or event, to feel less puffy in fitted clothes

For the tired, jet-lagged side of a long flight rather than the swollen ankles, aromatherapy is the calmer choice.

Legs, ankles and hands: where lymphatic drainage helps most

The lower legs and ankles, because that’s where fluid settles after hours of sitting, standing or flying; then hands and fingers that feel tight. A face that looks fuller after a flight can feel less puffy too, since the session starts at the neck. It won’t reshape a face or flatten a stomach.

The NHS page on swollen ankles, feet and legs names sitting or standing in one position for too long and eating too much salty food among the usual causes. Dubai adds long-haul flights and summer heat.

  • Ankles and feet: the classic post-flight puffiness, worked last.
  • Calves and thighs: that thick, heavy feeling after days of sitting.
  • Hands and fingers: rings that feel tight after a flight or a hot day.
  • Face: I don’t do facials, but the neck and collarbone work at the start can help a puffy face feel less full.
  • Stomach: whatever the before-and-after videos suggest, a flatter stomach isn’t something this delivers, and I don’t sell it that way.

Ankles get slow, light strokes, and only once the work further up the leg is done.

If that heavy, puffy feeling is why you’re here, message me on WhatsApp with your area and a time.

Lymphatic drainage after liposuction or surgery: why that isn’t my service

I don’t do it. Drainage after liposuction, a tummy tuck or any operation is clinical aftercare: when it starts, how firm it is and how it works around wounds and compression garments are decisions for your surgeon. Ask your surgeon’s clinic who they work with, and book me for everyday comfort once they’ve signed you off.

This isn’t caution for its own sake. After surgery the tissue is still recovering and some swelling is expected, but swelling can also be the first sign of something that needs your surgeon, such as an infection, a fluid collection or a clot. Whoever works on you needs to know your operation, your surgeon’s instructions and what to watch for. That’s a different job from mine, and I’d rather lose the booking than improvise it in your bedroom.

The same goes for lymphoedema, a long-term swelling condition that can follow cancer treatment or damage to the lymph nodes. It needs a specialist lymphoedema service, usually through your doctor, not a wellbeing session.

Lymphatic drainage for weight loss, belly fat or cellulite: what it can’t do

None of the three. Lymphatic drainage moves fluid, not fat, so any change on the scale afterwards is water, and it comes back. It doesn’t break down cellulite or burn belly fat, and it isn’t a detox: your liver and kidneys handle that job without any help from me.

Why the promise survives: puffiness really does go down for a day or two, so a photo taken the next morning can look like a result. It isn’t fat loss, and it won’t hold. I’d rather tell you that before you book than sell you a package of ten.

What it genuinely offers is smaller and still worth having: legs that can feel lighter, shoes and rings that can feel less tight, and a very calm hour.

Lymphatic drainage at home in Dubai: what a session looks like

I make up your own bed with my massage blanket and fresh linens, and you lie down under proper draping. I start at the neck and collarbone, clear the points nearer the trunk, then work down to the legs, with the ankles last. Very little oil, a slow repeating rhythm, and falling asleep is normal.

The order surprises people. I don’t start where you’re puffy, because the whole system empties near the collarbone, and working a swollen ankle while everything above it is congested achieves very little. So it goes neck, collarbone and shoulders, then the points where the arms and legs meet the trunk, then behind the knees, and only then the calves, ankles and feet. Clear the road before you send traffic down it.

Afterwards: water, feet up, and stay there. Don’t plan the gym or a long drive straight after. That’s the real advantage of doing this at home: when we finish, you’re already where you need to rest.

Every session starts here, at the neck and collarbone, well before the ankles.

Hotels work the same way, often the evening you land; my hotel room massage guide covers what to tell reception. I visit homes and hotels across more than 30 areas, from towers in Dubai Marina to villas and hotel rooms on Palm Jumeirah, daily 10:00–23:00 by appointment, and a same-day visit is often possible. The full visit, from arrival to pack-down, is on what to expect.

How much is lymphatic drainage massage in Dubai?

At your home or hotel it’s AED 400 an hour, so AED 600 for 90 minutes; at my studio it’s AED 300 an hour. Nothing is paid up front and there’s no charge for travel; settle in cash when we finish, or by bank transfer if you tell me beforehand. An hour covers the full sequence.

Choose 90 minutes if your legs need longer after a long-haul flight. There’s no course and no package. Since the effect lasts a day or two, book it around what causes the puffiness, like the night you land or the week before an event, not weekly.

You’ll find lymphatic drainage cheaper at some spas and on deal sites. With me you’re paying for the trip to you, the same female therapist every time, and a straight answer on whether this is the right session at all.

When should you not book lymphatic drainage?

Not with a fever or an active infection, heart or kidney failure, during cancer treatment, or with a suspected clot. And not if one leg is swollen, or one calf is painful, warm or red after a flight: those are warning signs of a blood clot that must never be massaged. See a doctor first.

Travel puffiness is usually fairly even on both sides and doesn’t hurt. Treat these as a doctor’s question before a massage question:

  • swelling in one leg only, or swelling that’s severe, painful or came on suddenly
  • skin over the swelling that’s red or hot to the touch
  • swelling that hasn’t settled after a few days of normal life
  • leg swelling with shortness of breath or chest pain: go straight to the emergency department, as the NHS page on deep vein thrombosis (DVT) advises
  • varicose veins: I don’t work over them, and if they’ve been assessed and are stable, my page on massage with varicose veins explains how we plan around them

If none of that applies and it’s the puffiness you want gone, book lymphatic drainage on WhatsApp with your area and a time, and I’ll bring the blanket and the quiet.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between lymphatic drainage and a Swedish massage?

Pressure and purpose. Swedish uses flowing, light-to-medium strokes and warm oil to relax the muscles and help you switch off. Lymphatic drainage barely touches the muscle: it's a slow, skin-deep stretch with very little oil, always in the direction lymph flows, aimed at puffiness rather than tension. To unwind, book Swedish; if your legs and ankles feel heavy and swollen, book lymphatic.

Why is lymphatic drainage so gentle? Is it actually doing anything?

The vessels involved sit just beneath the skin, not down in the muscle, and they respond to a light stretch and a steady rhythm. Press hard and you flatten them, which turns the hour into an ordinary muscle massage. If it feels almost too gentle to be working, it's being done properly. Tell me if anything feels uncomfortable and I'll adjust straight away.

How long does lymphatic drainage last, and how often should I book it?

Usually a day or two, sometimes a little longer. It's a reset, not a lasting change: flights, salty food, heat and hours of sitting still bring the puffiness back. That's why I'd book it around those moments, after a long-haul flight or before an event, rather than every week. If swelling keeps returning without an obvious reason, see your doctor.

Can I book lymphatic drainage after lipo or a tummy tuck in Dubai?

No. Drainage after surgery belongs with the specialist your surgeon's clinic recommends, because when it starts, how firm it is and how it works around wounds and compression garments are part of your aftercare plan. That isn't what I offer, and I won't improvise it. Once you've fully recovered and your surgeon is happy, an ordinary session for everyday puffiness is a different matter.

How much is lymphatic drainage massage at home in Dubai?

A home or hotel visit is AED 400 an hour, which comes to AED 600 for 90 minutes; my studio is AED 300 an hour. No deposit and no travel fee: we agree the price on WhatsApp and you pay cash afterwards, or by bank transfer if you'd rather. Sixty minutes covers the full sequence, and ninety gives your legs more time after a long flight.

Do you do lymphatic drainage massage for men?

Yes. I welcome both women and men, and the session is identical: light, slow work from the neck down to the ankles, with proper draping throughout and strictly professional boundaries. The reasons to book are the same too, whether that's heavy legs after a long-haul flight, a hot week or long days at a desk. Send me your area and a time on WhatsApp.
