Do you actually need to tip for a massage in Dubai?
Short answer: no. The UAE has no tipping law and no strong tipping custom the way the US does. Plenty of hotel spas already fold a 10% service charge into the bill, so an extra tip is genuinely a bonus, not an expectation. If you're ever unsure whether a service charge is included, just ask to see the breakdown — a good venue will tell you straight away.
For independent, home-visit therapists like me, there's no till and no service charge. The number I quote you is the number you pay. If you'd like to add a little something because you had a great session, that's kind — but I'll never hover, hint, or hand you a card machine pre-set to 18%.
So what's a fair amount if I want to tip?
A simple rule that travels well: 10% is a warm thank-you, 15% is generous, and 20% is for something special — a therapist who fixed a stubborn knot or stayed an extra few minutes. On a typical AED 400 home session that's AED 40, AED 60 or AED 80. Round to whatever feels tidy in your wallet.

My honest take as a therapist
I'd rather you spent your money on the session itself — a slightly longer treatment, or coming back when your shoulders need it again — than feel pressured into a tip. Good care shouldn't come with an awkward maths moment at the end. If a place ever makes you feel guilty for not tipping, that tells you more about the place than about you.
